Really nice review from Book Frog!

Monday, August 31st, 2009

“…hilarious and surprisingly big hearted…Michael Rubens has written a thoroughly enjoyable, compulsively readable science fiction romp, and I look foward to his next.”

Thank you Book Frog!

In Praise of Liane Hansen

Friday, August 28th, 2009

So I had my big interview today with Liane Hansen for NPR’s Sunday Weekend Edition, and it was a joy to speak with her. She was funny, warm, encouraging, knowledgable,  engaged and engaging, all while dealing with a blithering idiot on the other end of the line. I’m hoping that I said something that can be edited into a semi-coherent segment.

Radio appearances

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

I’ll be live this Thursday at 12:00pm on Write On Radio , a show on KFAI, a great independent radio station in the Twin Cities (where I misspent my youth).

I’m also being interviewed this Friday by Liane Hansen for NPR’s Sunday Weekend Edition. Not sure if the airdate will be this weekend or a sometime in the future — should have an update soon.

Who are you? Why have you written such a nice review of my book? I like you. You’re probably a very nice person.

For those of you who want to rock it East Coast, Ivy League style, I’ll be reading at the Harvard Coop on September 13 at 2pm, and hiding my sense of educational inferiority behind a snide, dismissive exterior.

Ah, the writer’s life on Martha’s Vineyard….

Monday, August 17th, 2009

Which is really the non-writing life on Martha’s Vineyard. Turns out that beautiful weather, warm water, clamming, seafood and family fun have been a boon to my procrastination. Number one rule of successful writing: write at least a little bit every day. Number one rule of successful procrastination: what? The tide’s out, making it a good time to rake for clams? Okay!
